Marissa Ogea
Development Coordinator
Marissa is the Development Coordinator at the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan. Her role involves working alongside the other members of the Development team on events and handling “a bit of anything and everything,” as she puts it. Marissa first became involved with the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan when she interned in the office during the summer of 2022 and lovingly jokes that the Foundation is “stuck with me because I’m not going anywhere.”
Diagnosed with epilepsy in 2009, Marissa has experienced the challenges of growing up with epilepsy from an early age and is passionate about epilepsy awareness and advocacy efforts. In 2020, she began posting on social media about her journey on Instagram and has recently started a podcast called Shaking Up The Dialogue, where she speaks about her experiences with epilepsy and other points to help raise awareness.
In her free time, you can find her baking multiple trays of sweets, playing an impromptu game of pickleball, and occasionally reading one of the many books on her bookshelf that she swears to finish eventually.
Marissa has a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities Pre-Law from Michigan State University and is actively pursuing a Master of Arts from her alma mater in Nonprofit Leadership, Global Cultures, and Social Enterprise.
