Crystal Staffney

Crystal “Crys” Staffney serves as the Development Director for the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan. As a mother to an amazing son living with epilepsy, she brings an unparalleled perspective and extensive nonprofit experience to the foundation.

Crys is a native of Detroit and the Founder & CEO of From Keisha’s Heart to Yours. She established the nonprofit organization in 2020 in loving memory of her sister, Keisha Staffney. Before losing Keisha on May 2, 2020, Crys dedicated her life to being her sister’s support and health advocate through every trial, tribulation, and threat to her life. During this intense journey, Crys developed strong relationships with Keisha’s doctors and an equally strong alliance with heart and cardiovascular disease. She gained a deep understanding that fueled an intense desire to alleviate and, if possible, prevent the unnecessary suffering of heart and cardiovascular disease patients. Her passion for supporting those living with epilepsy runs just as deep, and she is excited to utilize her skills and expertise to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals affected by epilepsy, striving to enhance their quality of life and provide them with the support they truly deserve.

Crys’ career spans over 18 years in the focus fields of communications, public relations, marketing, operations, and strategic planning. She completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees at Wayne State University, earning a BA in Media Arts & Studies and a MA in Public Relations & Organizational Communication.

Family means everything to Crys. In her spare time, she enjoys having family events and celebrations at her home and embracing the role of a devoted sports mom, passionately supporting and cheering on her son at every sporting event he participates in. She also LOVES skating. After an injury that occurred years ago, she could get back on the roller skating rink in 2021. Her son has developed a similar passion for roller skating, and they often enjoy skating together.
