Leaving a Legacy
PLANNED GIVING: The Gift of a Lifetime
First, we would like to thank you for taking the time to consider making a legacy gift to the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan.
You have the taken the first step in considering a legacy gift; a gift that will impact people touched by epilepsy beyond your lifetime.

When it's time to begin planning your estate, you think about the people and institutions that have played a role in your life. You may have supported the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan during your lifetime and learned the importance of this organization and the ability we have to change lives. You believe in our mission and understand that we will continue to make a positive difference in the world far into the future.

Making a bequest through your will or trust, or, making a beneficiary designation of your IRA of life insurance policy, is a simple way to make an important gift to The Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan to assure that the Foundation will be there to help families touched by epilepsy.  For many people, bequests are the most realistic way to provide a substantial contribution.

Thank you for considering a legacy gift.

Making a Bequest
Please download our Planned Giving Brochure for examples of how to word the bequest that you had in mind.

Making a Beneficiary Designation
We recommend contacting your financial planner to set up your beneficiary designation of Life Insurance or an IRA.  Otherwise, please contact the Foundation and we would be happy to assist you in making your legacy gift.

Benefits of Making a Bequest or Beneficiary Designation
  • It is not payable until death.  Therefore it does not affect your assets or cash flow during your lifetime.
  • It is private.  Your will is not filed or made public until death.  The beneficiary designation remains private.
