Event Description
Most people are aware of the dangers of SIDS and fire. Each year, SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) kills more Americans than either of these, yet many people with epilepsy and family members have never been told about it by their doctors. On this call, Orrin Devinsky, MD - a national leader in epilepsy treatment and SUDEP research - will review the suspected mechanisms and risk factors for SUDEP, along with what can be done to reduce one's risk. Kellie Jankowski - a certified grief counselor with the SUDEP Institute - will also share strategies and resources for coping with the loss of a loved one to SUDEP.
